2011 will mark the Michiko's 10th year of her Watercolor career.
10 years ago Michiko was introduced to watercolor painting at a SUNY Potsdam Summer course."That was an eye opening experience for me," says Michiko, "although I love painting since I was in school, I never had the chance to start all over until the Summer of 2001. After my children graduated from college I started working at watercolor full-time and feel I found my life-long friend."
Michiko paints nearly every day and loves it so much she cannot even
think of any other medium to try.

Artist's Statement
I love flowers for my subject, especially the close focus point of view. For me, there can't be a better medium than watercolor for this subject. A soft delicate flower's nature, or the essence of ripe juicy fruit cand be achieved by a drop of pigment on the wet paper. The excitement when unpredictable results happen with movement of water is unmatched by anything else. Although I love flowers I am now finding it interesting to paint landscapes, buildings and machines and will continue to experiment with different subjects.
